E-Mail Inspiration
From the MailBag

Just when I thought the site was getting too boring – I get 3 e-mails from around the country. Concrete soul-skaters keepin in touch and spreadin’ the word.
From Indiana: The D.I.Y attitude is alive and well in Indiada – Oliver and his buddies are making their own concrete bowl. Check out the video of the first sessions in the HomeWoods Bowl! Windows Media or Quicktime versions.
here is a video of one of the first sessions on the
uncompleted “homewoods bowl”. we are building it in
the back woods of southern indiana. phase two is
scheduled to begin june 2006, till then we shovel the
snow and skate this section. it’s pretty fun. the
deep end is going to be killer. this was just an
experiment to see if we could build a bowl out of
bagged quikrete with no power tools, in the middle of
the woods with no experience or running water (we used
buckets of pond water and mixed it all by hand in two
wheel barrows with three hoes). it was a blaring
success. i thought maybe you would post this video so
others might get stoked on what can be done with very
little experience or resources. skate or die. -oliver
From Colorado: A shout out from Scott and the Totem Bowl crew. They are skatin all Winter in Colorado – great weather and great parks. Airspeed is in the process of creating a park in Nederland Colorado, too. I may just have to go back to Colorado this summer for a visit.
From California: Packy stopped by the site looking for some footage from his runs at the SuperLoop contest this year. I’m stoked to help him out – I think he’s gonna be using the footage with one of his sponsors : Outlook Skateboards.

Cool to see video of the bowl in Bloomington, IN. Skated with those guys at the Bloomington Dreamland park. The scene has a great vibe and skating is alive and well in Indiana. Word has it that the bowl is to be finished this spring/summer. Hope to skate it this spring when I head back to Indiana to drive my son’s car back from college. Hoping to stop by the Totem Bowl on the way back as well. Any updates on the new pool at Lincoln City?
