Toledo Skatepark Pics
Fresh Crete!
Airspeed’s newest creation in Toledo Oregon is all but finished. Opening day is scheduled for this Saturday, June 18th.
I was there today taking a few pictures, but I don’t even know how to describe this park! Organic flowing lines and odd little features everywhere you look- and It just sort of looks like it was meant to be there. Like a natural extension of the land or a volcanic flow.
Nothing huge and head scratching like the Funnel Tunnel, the Dish, or the Donut - but there are a lot of subtle features. The biggest walls or slightly rounded at the top and just a bit over-vert. FAT metal coping up near the 3 1/2 foot pool pocket - which looks like it goes just a bit over-vert, too. A pair of rounded wave-like pockets. Cool tile work in serveral spots around the park.
The shallow end has lots of different roll-ins, some big ledges, hips, a weird elongated ramp/pump hump, a big curved vert wall, kickers, and even a fake ‘rock’ in the corner for a styllee footplant or something. In the middle is a big flat deck. very big. There’s one funky obstacle that I think covers up some old drain or something. Oh yeah. there’s even a little Bedrock style minramp off to the side. hehe. Crazy-Beautiful place!

Looks good! Not many people at West Linn are too excited by it as it does not look gnarly like Florence, but I’m into it. Kurt and I may come down the following weekend and hit the stunts and the new park if the weather permits. Plus.. I have an issue I need to clear up with Florence!!!

What the hell are you talking about Jim? Ticky ticky? What does that mean? I was talking about doing the Hotwheels run around the Doughnut for once! What are you talking about? Rain coming down hard right now! Happy Birthday!

Toledo opens today!
It rained this morning but it looks like it’ll probably dry up by this afternoon. (think happy thought).
I stopped by the park yesterday and there was a city crew there working on the landscaping and installing bleachers right next to the shallow end. The City is really psyched about the park.
Oh yeah - Bikes Are Allowed.
Killer overhead pic of the park at SkateOregon.com Sam musta climbed up into one of the big trees up on the hill to grab that one.

Just a few of the 200 or so people who showed up for opening day! Grantham is even in there watching himself do a trick.

Hesh? West Linn not gnarly? I suppose Burnside is mellow?
I now know that I am in the modern age of skatepark design when some one says that West Linn is not gnarly!!!

Love Burnside. West Linn may not be knarly but it is fun.
